WHAT IS CDNET EMAIL?

CDNet Email is a self-managing email distribution system for
the Community Development Network (ACT and Region). It is
also called the CD Network or CDNet.

THERE IS ONE EMAIL POSTING ADDRESS

This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

This provides distribution to over 3100 individual email
addresses.

All your incoming messages have [CDNet] at the start of the
subject line.

There is no approval or monitoring process before messages
are distributed.

Email messages (but not all attachments) are archived.

SUBSCRIPTION INFORMATION WEBSITE

https://lists.cdnet.org.au/mailman/listinfo/cdnet

This address is on the bottom of every CDNet email.

At this address you can access the list archive and make changes
to your own settings.

You are also able to access this information on our Subscribe and Manage page.

You can change how often you receive the messages (see
‘digest’).

If you delete an email in your browser you can go to the archive
and read the email content but usually not the attachment.

Email messages that are sent to the network are distributed
automatically.

You automatically receive all email messages.

POST A MESSAGE?

Avoid sending to blind or multiple addresses at the same time.

Messages must be sent from the same email address as
registered on the list or they will be automatically discarded (not
distributed). This prevents non-subscribers (such as people
sending spam) sending messages to the network.

Where possible avoid sending attachments, it is better if the
information is put in the content of your email.
Include a common subject line and they should string as links in
the archive.

Ideally use plain text not html (usually a default setting in your
browser).

Avoid sending administrative enquiries to the whole network.

APPROPRIATE CONTENT?

A general guide for emails is relevance and interest to the
network.

Emails from registered email addresses are not monitored
before distribution.

An objective of the network is to facilitate discussion and debate
and to share information that provides a better understanding of
Community Development in the ACT and region.

You are accountable for what you send in that the message will
carry your address as the sender.

VIRUS RISK?

Attachments to emails can be a virus risk (but usually only if you
open them).

If you include an attachment please provide a summary in the
content. Without this information some people will automatically
delete attachments because of the virus risk.

Best practice, don’t use attachments and put the information in
the content of the email.
